Plain-English help with retirement income
We explain how to turn retirement savings into a paycheck, including where annuities fit and where they don't. We don't sell anything ourselves, and we'll tell you exactly how we get paid.
Who we are
RetireLevel is a private marketing company. That's the whole of it. We are not an insurance company, not a financial firm, and not connected to any government agency or employer retirement plan.
We exist because of a gap. People get plenty of help saving for retirement: payroll deductions, matching, target-date funds. Far less help comes with the harder question at the end: how does that balance become income that lasts as long as you do?
What we do
- Education. Plain-English pages about the income options for a 401(k), IRA, TSP, 403(b) and savings, and about annuities, free, with no email needed to read any of it.
- A short assessment. Five questions that tell a licensed professional which options are open to someone in your situation.
- An introduction, if you want one. If you'd like to talk it through, we introduce you to an independent, state-licensed insurance professional for a free review. If you'd rather just read, that's a fine outcome and costs you nothing.
What we don't do
- We don't sell financial products. There is nothing to buy on this site.
- We don't give advice. Not financial, tax, legal or investment advice. Everything here is general education.
- We're not licensed. RetireLevel is not a licensed insurance producer, not a broker-dealer and not a registered investment adviser.
- We don't speak for any plan or agency. Not the TSP, not Social Security, not your employer's plan.
How we're paid
Plainly, because you should be able to weigh it: the licensed professional pays us a referral fee for the introduction. You are never charged, and you are never under any obligation: not to take the call, not to stay on it, and not to buy anything at the end of it.
Our standards
- Plain English. If a sentence needs a glossary, it needs rewriting.
- Trade-offs alongside benefits. Every option on this site comes with what it costs you, including annuities' surrender charges and fees.
- No pressure and no fake urgency. No countdown timers and no "rates change Friday".
- No invented proof. We don't publish customer counts, testimonials, press logos or statistics we can't stand behind.
